We understand there is a lot of concern about the impacts of possible coronavirus infections in places people meet, including churches. In Kittitas County, as of yesterday, three people have been tested and all have been negative for COVID-19. At this point, there is still much that is unknown, but the KVUUC leadership group wishes to reiterate recommendations from the US Centers for Disease Control. These recommendations include:
- stay home if you’re sick
- wash hands frequently and thoroughly
- minimize touching other’s hands and frequently touched surfaces like doorknobs and light switches
- cough and sneeze into a handkerchief or the crook of your elbow rather than into your hands
- avoid touching your face with your hands
- use hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands
In light of these concerns, we will change the way we do the closing
circle, by touching elbows rather than clasping hands. We will make
hand sanitizer available at key locations in the church facility as soon
as we can get it. If you have an extra supply
of hand sanitizer, please consider bringing it to the service. And
please feel free to contact me, our Minister or one of our Board members
if you have concerns, questions, or additional suggestions. The Board
meets this Sunday after service and will be
discussing this issue at that time.
